The FreeCAD Project Association (FPA) are really pleased to share our first community design competition. We really want to see how people are using FreeCAD and thought a competition might be the way, furthermore, we thought a competition might produce something of use. As such we’ve chatted and partnered with Labcrafter, a UK based company deeply involved in open hardware for open science communities. We’ve asked them to help us create a brief for something useful for that scene.

So the full brief, and the place to enter, is over on the FreeCAD forum but as a heads up we want people to design an open hardware pinch valve. It’s a great technical challenge and will be of use across a wide range of open science hardware projects. If you have questions and/or want to discuss your entry then feel free to use the FreeCAD Design Competition discussion thread, or create a new thread in the Forum subsection.

Finally, there are cash prizes on offer! $500, $250 and $100 for the first three places. We really look forward to seeing what you all come up with.

Head over to the FreeCAD Forum to read more details on what we require and how to enter. We look forward to seeing your brilliant work!
