The FreeCAD North Amer­i­ca Meet­up event hap­pened last week­end and was kind­ly host­ed in the fan­tas­tic Knox Mak­ers in Knoxville Tennessee. 

Over on the FreeCAD Project Asso­ci­a­tion youtube account you can find talks from the event that went out on the livestream. This includes the excel­lent talk (embed­ded above) by FreeCAD main­tain­er, FPA Project Admin­is­tra­tor, and gen­er­al FreeCAD com­mu­ni­ty leg­end, Chris Hennes. 

In his talk, “FreeCAD 26.3: What’s New?” Chris shows the “top 20” new fea­tures of this FreeCAD 26.3 release. He begins explain­ing why “FreeCAD 26.3” is called such, explain­ing the new CalVer ver­sion­ing con­ven­tion FreeCAD has adopt­ed. Chris then goes on to show and tell an excel­lent cura­tion of improve­ments and new addi­tions we can expect to see in 26.3. It’s excit­ing stuff! With new func­tion­al­i­ty such as the eager­ly await­ed text in sketch­er, as well as “under the hood” refine­ments like improve­ments in back­ground recom­putes, it’s well worth a watch.
