This is a quick reminder that the submission deadline for Q3 2026 grant applications is September 1. If you are interested in improving FreeCAD and its ecosystem, please read more about the program and apply.
Please keep in mind that typically there are multiple grant requests every time, and the quarterly budget for the program is 10K euro.
On a related note, Morgan Allen recently completed his grant work and released KiConnect 1.0.0, and addon that implements direct data exchange with KiCad so you can pull an updated PCB design into your FreeCAD project while having both applications open. I am an older FreeCad user
As am I, fast approaching 80 years old.
The first CAD I used was in 1983. Autocad which IIRC came on an 8“disk and I ran it on an S100 bus based system running CPM. FreeCAD is somewhat more capable.…!
