Over on our FreeCAD Mastodon account, under our reg­u­lar #FreeCAD­Fri­day hash­tag we get to spot all man­ner of things. Often peo­ple post that weeks lit­tle 3D print­ing project, or a small tech­ni­cal draw­ing, or an update on a longer FreeCAD project they are under­tak­ing. Some­times though peo­ple pop in with amaz­ing new bits of func­tion­al­i­ty they are build­ing for FreeCAD. 

Doing just that Mike post­ed, and con­tin­ues to post, about their devel­op­ment of the Microwave Work­bench, chock full of tools for high fre­quen­cy design and simulation. 

The author of this post can’t pre­tend to under­stand mass­es of it so it’s prob­a­bly for the best if read­ers dive over to the project repos­i­to­ry and take a look through the detailed readme. The readme includes lists of all the solvers, the types of sim­u­la­tion result you can achieve as well as the mod­el­ling capa­bil­i­ties this work­bench can perform. 

Not in the addon man­ag­er yet, the Microwave work­bench readme again has great instruc­tions for set up and there are exam­ples of both mod­els and analy­sis projects in the repos­i­to­ry for you to get going. 

It’s also def­i­nite­ly worth fol­low­ing Mike on the fedi­verse as they are reg­u­lar­ly post­ing about devel­op­ment there. As for me, I’m going to go and research “Eigen­modes”!
