Hi. It’s an embroidered cap, which is made on demand rather than in bulk. That’s actually pretty cheap for made-on-demand custom embroidery.
The price is higher because we don’t buy in bulk, or keep stock on-hand. So we’re stuck with what the manufacturer wants. They handle all the production and order fulfillment so we can keep working on FreeCAD instead of filling orders for swag. 🙂 We put it up, not really to make lots of money. It’s more because people requested FreeCAD swag. We have almost no control over the price. FreeCAD gets $3 for each cap sold, so we could lower the price by that much… but then the project gets no support. :/
