Last week, our very own regular blog contributor Jo Hinchliffe, AKA Concretedog, was spotted on the Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA) monthly ‘show and tell’ livestream.

If you don’t know, the show hosts interview projects that have achieved Open Source Hardware Certification in the previous month.

Jo’s project is a small design for a magnet mounted work holding clamp system, designed with PCB’s in mind, but throughout the interview, it becomes clear they are used for much more.

In the show episode, Jo speaks at length about using FreeCAD and other open source tools and how they feel that it’s important to allow others to follow along using the exact open tools as the project creator.

Whilst not FreeCAD-linked, the other two projects on the show are fascinating. A DIY board for surgical students to practice suturing, and a non-contact DIY dynamo and light system for bikes, the latter project is made in Solidworks, but after hearing Jo’s interview, the project creator, William Kennedy,  mentions that they really should take another look at FreeCAD! Well done, Jo!
